Entertainment Weekly is reporting that there will be two new additions to the Emmy-winning-series “Modern Family.” Reports state that Elizabeth Peña (La Bamba, Rush Hour) has been cast to play Gloria’s mother in the 12th episode of the current (fourth) season and Stephanie Beatriz (The Closer) has been cast to play Gloria’s sister. “There’s a bit of a competitive relationship between Gloria and her sister that will be fun,” the show’s executive producer Christopher Lloyd, told EW. “The mother is the formidable, domineering character in the family, and has a complicated relationship with Jay (Ed O’Neill),” Lloyd added. “I’m not sure she’s ever completely accepted Jay, and they lock horns in the episode.” Peña and Beatriz will debut during the 12th episode of this season titled “Fulgencio.” Filming for it begins on Monday. EW also reports that other celebrities are set to make appearances on the show, including Matthew Broderick, Jason Mantzoukas, and Shelley Long.
