āLa breve y maravillosa vida de Oscar Waoā tendraĢ sus funciones de pre-estreno a partir del saĢbado 12 de octubre y estrenaraĢ el martes 15 de octubre del 2019 en Repertorio EspanĢol, ubicado en el 138 Este de la calle 27 en Manhattan, Nueva York.
La nueva produccioĢn es adaptada y dirigida por Marco Antonio RodriĢguez y el elenco estaĢ formado por Edgar Sebastian MartiĢnez, Mario Peguero, Altagracia āANOVAā Nova, Maite Bonilla, Arisleyda Lombert, Belange RodriĢguez y Alfonso Rey.
Ā Repertorio EspanĢol, la galardonada companĢiĢa que este anĢo se alzoĢ con su segundo Drama Desk Award, se enorgullece en anunciar el estreno mundial de āLa breve y maravillosa vida de Oscar Waoā, basada en la novela de Junot DiĢaz ganadora del Premio Pulitzer en el 2008. Esta puesta en escena supone la primera vez que esta joya de la literatura contemporaĢnea se adapta a las tablas en espanĢol, gracias a la comisioĢn de Repertorio EspanĢol.Ā āLa breve y maravillosa vida de Oscar Waoā ha sido versionada para el teatro por el dramaturgo y director dominicano-americano Marco Antonio RodriĢguez, quien ya trajo a Repertorio aclamadas producciones como āBarceloĢ con hieloā – obra ganadora de la competencia nacional de dramaturgia MetLife āNuestras Vocesā – y la adaptacioĢn de la novela de Julia AĢlvarez āEn el nombre de SalomeĢā.
SOBRE LA OBRA
Oscar Wao es un joven nerd de Nueva Jersey que se separa de su imponente madre por primera vez para asistir a la Universidad de Rutgers junto a su rebelde hermana. EĢl suenĢa con convertirse en el J.R.R. Tolkien dominicano y, sobre todo, con encontrar su gran amor. Pero quizaĢs Oscar nunca lograraĢ obtener lo que quiere por culpa del “fukuĢ”, una maldicioĢn que ha perseguido a la familia de Oscar por generaciones, incluso en su eĢpico viaje desde Santo Domingo a los Estados Unidos. “La breve vida maravillosa de Oscar Wao” explora la incansable capacidad humana de encontrar el amor arriesgaĢndolo todo.

| JUNOT DIĢAZ ā AUTHOR Junot DiĢaz was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New Jersey. He is the author of the critically acclaimed Drown; The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, which won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award; and This Is How You Lose Her, a New York Times bestseller and National Book Award finalist.
