Joe Arroyo, born Álvaro José Arroyo González, passed away today in Barranquilla, Colombia, of a heart failure, along with other aliments. He was only 55 years old. He had been hospitalized since June 27th in the Asunción de Barranquilla clinic, with wife Jacqueline Ramón and manager Luis Ojeda by his side.
If he was still alive, he would have received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Latin Grammys in November. Arroyo also created the soap opera called “El Joe”, which hinges his music and “colorful life”.
Arroyo was born in Cartagena, Colombia, and became big in the 1970s during the Colombian salsa explosion.
