Selena Gomez will fight anyone for her man, even a woman twice her age! That is what her character will do in the upcoming movie, Behaving Badly. The singer/actress will be starring alongside Elizabeth Shue, who will play her cougar rival, and Nat Wolff, who will play both women’s love interest.
In the film, Shue’s character pursues the young man, Wolff’s character, who Gomez’s character seeks attention from as well. The two women battle it out on screen to gain the love and affection they seek from their mutual “crush”.
The comedy is yet another addition to Gomez’s more mature acting credits. The star also appeared in the film Spring Breakers alongside Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine, and James Franco. Faith, Gomez’s character, presented a new, risqué role for the actress who decided to join many former Disney stars and step out of her clean, child-oriented image.
Behaving Badly will include many wild scenes, including insane drug trips. In an interview with E! News, Shue stated, “[Selena and I] have this great scene together. My character, unfortunately, thinks she’s taken two Tylenols, but instead she has taken two tabs of Ecstasy. So I get to meet Selena for the first time on Ecstasy.”
Despite their rivalry on screen, Shue had nothing but kind words for her co-star. She stated, “She’s so down-to-earth and so committed and cared so much about her work.”
The film is currently in production. A release date has not been announced.
