These Latina YouTubers Are Making More Money Than You

Not many people thought anyone could make thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars on Youtube. Probably not even Google, who bought the video-sharing website for $1.65 billion, but didn’t expect Youtubers to also cash-in.

Well these females, along with others that are also experiencing success in the vlogging world (video + blog = vlog) are making tons of money producing do it yourself videos, makeup and beauty segments and cooking tutorials.

According to the marketing and media news website AdAge, who calculated an estimation on how much the top YouTube channels earn with data by Outrigger Media during the month of March, illustrate that these beauty and cooking bloggers make thousands of dollars per month and most likely make thousands more with sponsorships and advertising.

The top YouTuber on AdAge’s list is Spanish speaking makeup and DIY vlogger Yuya. Yep, that’s her name. Her channel, lady16makeup, received more than 35 million views and earned $41,475.74.

Bethany Mota’s channel, Macbarbie07, received more than 13 million views. The Californian teenager, who likes to be called Beth (que Americana) shares hair, makeup, fashion, DIY “and basically anything I love”. Awe, que cute. Bethany, I mean… Beth earned way more than I ever did in the month of March with $15,781.95. But I’m not bitter.

The channel, CadenaTres Vida Y Hogar, is a Spanish-speaking television station that broadcast on channel 28 and publishes its content on YouTube. That’s smart, because their cooking shows, horoscope readings and sex advise gets thousands of views online. In March alone they’ve received more than 9 million and earned $41,474.50. Many Muñoz, the television-cooking expert helps bring in those views on YouTube with her delicious Spanish dishes.

The credit goes to these women for turning their passion into a fulltime job. And yes, it’s a fulltime job that involves lots of hard work. Creating a successful brand while producing entertaining, inspiring and informative videos (even if it’s with an iPhone) to thousands of viewers every day or week isn’t easy. But these vloggers are doing it and doing it very well.

J-Lo’s Jaw Dropping “Booty” Performance

“FLAWLESS!” Word of the night to describe Jennifer Lopez. This bold and beautiful entrepreneur put her hour glass figure on display at the “Fashion Rocks” event last night in Barclay Center wearing a revealing black dress with slits showing off her toned legs and cleavage.

Outshining the other starlets, her gold collar, matching gold belt and gold trimming around her neckline dazzled upon arrival.

Giving full access view of her curvacious figure, Jen wanted to assure the paparazzi and press that she was not just a pretty face. Keeping it simple and sexy, J.Lo had her hair out of her face in a swooped ponytail, showing off her glowing skin with a nude lip, and flattering long eyelashes.

Let’s not forget her “Booty” performance. In a skimpy, sequined leotard-mini. J.Lo shook it, twerked it, and made it clap putting the entire audience in an uproar.

Did you ever recall a moment when J.Lo didnt have a red carpet momentum?

Grown & Sexy Selena Gomez At The Teen Choice Awards 2014

Selena Gomez looked very polished and matured at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards. She rocked a $3,790 Saint Laurent Spring 2014 wool-gabardine tuxedo jumpsuit, Christian Dior 24K Gold Tone Clutch, Miu Miu gold pointed-toe heels, Jennifer Meyer diamond bar drop earrings, a sleek ponytail, glossy lips and smouldering smokey eyes. I absolutely loved her look.

Celebrity hair stylist Lona Vigi provided some great tips on achieving Selena’s supermodel look.

Teen Choice Awards 2014 - Arrivals

To start, Vigi misted Selena’s hair with an Evian atomizer in order to prep her hair and keep it in the cleanest condition.

Next, she applied a dime sized amount of the John Frieda Frizz Ease Original Six Effects Serum into her hands, and rubbed them together before going into Selena’s hair, starting at the roots and pulling all the way to the ends. “This serum is like a BB Cream for the hair,” said Vigi. “It covers so many vital bases that you end up using multiple products for, instead you can cut all of that out of the equation and just have this one master product.

In the front, Vigi sprayed John Frieda Frizz Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray while the hair was still damp in order to keep all the little baby hairs around the frame of the face tamed down.

Then, while blowing drying on a medium heat with the Harry Josh Pro Tools Dryer, Vigi sprayed the hair continuously to ensure the hair stayed back into the ponytail.

Next Vigi clipped the hair up and took super small sections and went over them with a flat iron, getting as close to the scalp as possible.

Vigi created a center part and then gathered Selena’s hair by the nape of her neck to create the ponytail. Once it was secure, she patted John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret Weapon Touch-Up Creme into the ponytail so that it looked extra strong and shiny. “We wanted the ponytail to be the accessory to her look,” said Vigi.

As a final touch, Lona secured the ponytail with a long, black ribbon. Continue reading

Beauty, Skin Care and Hair Talk with Carlos Otero

By: Deyanira Martinez

Behind the confident appearance and all the expertise of who today is a renowned makeup artist and celebrity stylist, there was a young man who over 20 years ago dreamed of fame and fortune. While living his native Puerto Rico, he dreamed of being famous in a big important city, like New York.

Today, Carlos Otero is one of the most recognized beauty professionals in the capital of the world. He has several beauty TV segments on local television and is the CEO/ founder of his own company, Latino Makeup Show. Sitting in the cafeteria of an important New York newspaper, Carlos speaks passionately about his plans, projects, beauty tips and trends in fashion and beauty.

Who is Carlos Otero?

I am a person who as a child had to learn to fight for what he wanted in life for personal reasons and taboos in Latino culture. I had big dreams and knew what I wanted. I’ve always been a person with determination.

How did you get to the beauty industry and begin working with celebrities?

It all started in Puerto Rico, Working for the Miss Puerto Rico Petite contest. Luis Santiago took me under his wings, and I began working with personalities like Roselyn Sanchez, who was beginning her career at the time. The rest is history and I have been fortunate to work with numerous stars such as Lily Estefan, Jackie Guerrido, Cindy Taylor, Miss Universe and many others.

What is Latino Makeup Show?

It’s a company founded with the desire to highlight the work of stylists and makeup artists. We want to have the recognition we deserve and stop being ghosts that hide behind the show of great designers and famous models. This company also has a social role; we help patients of cancer and other diseases to look and feel beautiful. Offer training and workshops to prison inmates, we also provide night gowns, makeup and hairstyle to low-income students for their prom day. We are basically turning dreams into realities.

What makes you different and unique and why do so many stars prefer to work with you?

I am a perfectionist, sincere and direct with my clients. Having a very strong work ethic, I care about my reputation and the people I work with.

What are the current fashion trends?

We are in the era of keratin and natural styles. The multicultural hair: America is not white anymore; we now have new and different texture of hair, skin tones and physical features. Beauty professionals are challenged to learn from these mixtures of races and cultures.

What colors and styles are used in 2014?

We are now living the return of neon colors from the 80’s and modern and well maintained afros from the 70’s. Women now prefer natural hair, avoid harsh chemicals, wear soft makeup, and really care about their skin.

Tell us about the use of extensions being so popular among the rich and famous?

It is important to know that the scalp usually does not support the weight of the extensions without the risk of severe hair loss or alopecia. Over 33 million women suffer from Alopecia due to medical conditions, chemical products abuse or extensions. Stars like Kim Kardashian and Britney Spears have suffered from this disease. The hair extensions must be removed after six weeks; I strongly recommend the use of clips extensions, if you want a glamorous look.

What Beauty tips can you share with our readers?

• If you want beautiful makeup, take care of your skin
• Never sleep without cleaning your face
• Drink plenty of water
• Eat fruits and vegetables, your skin and your hair is a reflection of what you eat
• Leave the use of chemicals, dyes and permanent to the professionals, do not try at home

Carlos Otero’s track record, experience and work speak for itself. This outstanding professional is a down to earth person who does not forget all the people who have helped him through his career. He gets very emotional when talking about his mother, his family and “all these angels and special people that give me the strength and energy to be a better person, and to continue revolutionizing the world of beauty.”

Golden Globes 2014 Beauty With Latino Star Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara looked absolutely stunning on last night’s Golden Globes red carpet! Rocking a voluminous black dress by Zac Posen and a serious statement necklace from Lorraine Schwartz we think that the “Modern Family” actress was hands-down one of the night’s best overall looks, including Best Dressed.

Below, see a breakdown of the bombshell’s beauty look from a rare, new perspective – her own! Sofia dishes on her makeup for the big award show night and shares the COVERGIRL products used to help create her glamorous red-carpet look. #bombshelling #goldenglobes

Sofia Vergara Breaks Down her Golden Globes Look!

Glam step-by-step quotes:

For this year’s Golden Globes, I really wanted to do something different. I wear makeup every day – I wouldn’t think about leaving the house without it! – but of course it’s such a big night, and everyone is taking pictures, so I have to look good! With my dress so elegant and my necklace so bold (and heavy!), I wanted to keep my hair and makeup simple and classic.”

1. To start off with a good base that would last all night, I started with COVERGIRL truBLEND Foundation in M6 which is super lightweight and blendable.

2. On top, a light dusting of powder to set the look and a bit of rosy color for the apples of my cheeks with Clean Glow Blush in Roses.

3. My dress and jewels were the center of attention, so I had to balance my hair and makeup. For me, a really glamorous evening look starts with the eyes. I love the drama of a cat eye – tonight I went with brown liner as opposed to black with Bombshell Liner in Chocolate Kiss to create the look.

4. I then used Bombshell Shine Shadow in Gold Goddess to give my eyes a little sparkle.

5. As always, I LOVE big lashes so I used Bombshell Volume Mascara on my top and bottom lashes to add volume and intensity. (aka #bombshelling)

6. For me, lipstick is a must – I feel naked without it. I wish I could just wear a nude shade, but it’s not me – I need color. I went with a bold red with LipPerfection Lip Color in Flame.

7. Oh I also always keep a gloss in my purse for touch-ups!
