USA network is about to get more hotter with their summer programs when two well-renowned Telemundo superstars make their American debut on two USA Network hit television programs. Latino stars Khotan Fernández (simply known as Khotan) and Angelica Celaya will be making their English-Speaking debut when they guest star on the networks’ most talked about and highest rated summer programs: Royal Pains & Burn Notice.
Set to star in five episodes of Royal Pains, a show about a young E.R. doctor (Mark Feuerstein) who becomes a unwilling doctor-for-hire to the rich and famous of the Hamptons after being wrongly blamed for a patient’s death, Khoatan will play a underwear model and love interest to one of the show’s characters named Divya (Reshma Shetty). Back in 2008, Khotan was selected by Quien Magazine as one of the 12 sexiest men in Mexico. His selection was most-likely due to his works in Deseo Prohibido and his current role in the series Sexo Debil. While these series added to Khotan’s fame, he is best known for the telenovella Perro Amor which also starred Angelica Celaya.
Like Khotan, Angelica Celaya makes her American debut on a USA network show called Burn Notice, a show about a spy (Jeffrey Donovan) who has been burned by the CIA. Celaya is reported to be playing Angela Flores, a sexy and charming girlfriend of an engineer who is believed to be selling weapon technology on the black market and becomes the CIA’s asset in order to confirm the suspicions. Aside from co-starring with Khotan in Perro Amor, Celaya appeared on several other Telemundo telenovellas like Ladron De Corazones, Marina, Haya Vida, Gabriel, Alguien Te Mira, Los Plateados, and Amor.
The appearance of Telemundo, and in-general Telenovella, stars is just the beginning of a long-growing trend. Telenovellas have become popular in the United States with shows like Ugly Betty (starring America Ferrera) being adapted from the telenovella Yo Soy Betty La Fea and produced by a former-telenovella actress and now movie star Selma Hayek being just one example on how the soaps are making an impact on American television. Expect the trend to continue to grow even after Khotan and Celaya make their American debut.
