It was no surprise to us in LatinTrends when the Golden Globes revealed that our favorite leading lady, Gina Rodriguez and her TV show, Jane The Virgin, were one of the nominees for the award show.
Jane The Virgin was nominated for the Best TV Series, Musical or Comedy category. The hit dramedy, among four other nominees, bumped off the popular “Modern Family” and “The Big Bang Theory” from being nominated.
Jane The Virgin is CW’s first comedy to be nominated for a Golden Globe award in the network’s history. “It’s a great feeling,” said CW president, Mark Pedowitz, who gave credit to the cast, the show’s creators and the network’s development team to The Hollywood Reporter.
Yes it is Mark, but it was no surprise to us in LatinTrends, who featured Rodriguez on the cover of our magazine, that she would be recognized for her talents in these award ceremonies.
On twitter, Rodriguez (@HereIsGina) – who was nominated for Best Actress In A TV Series, Musical or Comedy – tweeted to the Golden Globes (@GoldenGlobes), “Thank you seems too small, will you marry me isn’t appropriate, I love you is true maybe too soon but you did have me at hello”

In an interview Rodriguez said, “You see these amazing women nominated year after year for their incredible work and you think, ‘One day, I want to be there with them. Then,” she continues, “that day comes and it’s a testament that if you dream big and work hard and put all your efforts, drive and persistence in something, it’s bound to happen,” reports The Hollywood Reporter.
