There are so many celebrities and companies today that work with the skin and it is hard knowing which one is the right one for you.
The Naked Bar Soap Company is a “personal beauty company that uses handmade all natural soaps & bath and body products. The term “naked” stands for all natural as there are no added sulfates or parabens in any of our creations.” Natasha Gaylon and Jennifer Peets, founder and co-founders of Naked Bar Soap Company, sat down with Latin Trends to talk more about the company, featured products, benefits and more.
Latin Trends (LT): Can you briefly describe organic skin care products?
Natasha Gaylon and Jennifer Peets (NG and JP): At Naked Bar Soap Co. we don’t represent our products to be 100% organic, but use organic ingredients whenever possible. We use skin-loving plant butters such Shea and Cocoa along with moisturizing vegetable oils like olive, sunflower, and coconut. “Naked” stands for all natural meaning there are no added sulfates or parabens in any of our creations. All of our body products are made by hand in small batches to ensure that you are getting the very best quality.
LT: What is so special about the product “Pit Cream”?
NG and JP: Surprisingly one of the most important features of Pit Cream is that it is a deodorant not an antiperspirant. In commercial deodorants, active ingredients containing aluminum compounds clog pores to prevent sweating. Sweating helps to release toxins from our bodies and keep us cool, but unfortunately, bad odor is a result of this toxin release. Our Pit Cream uses all natural ingredients that work to banish the funk!
LT: What are other products in the line?
NG and JP: We have 6 different collections featuring a variety of bath and beauty products. Our three handmade soap collections are Naked and Natural, Naked & Salty, and Naked and Fragrant. Our Naked Essentials collection features coffee scrubs, foaming sugar scrubs, and skin balms. Naked and Sweet is our novelty collection of handmade soaps and body products crafted to look like cupcakes and sweet treats.
LT: What are some advantages and disadvantages with this product?
NG and JP: The advantages of the Pit Cream are all in the ingredients. Coconut and Tea Tree Oil kill odor causing bacteria, baking soda and cornstarch are natural deodorizers, and Shea and Cocoa butter are moisturizers. A disadvantage could be that it is not an antiperspirant. Pit Cream does not contain questionable ingredients such as Aluminum Zirconium and Tricolsan, which are used in commercial antiperspirants.
LT: What advice could you offer about people finding skin care products?
NG and JP: When searching for great skin care products we always suggest looking at ingredients that look “familiar”. Ingredients that are easy to pronounce, are consumable, and are naturally sourced. Many ingredients found in our own kitchens are better for your skin than the materials produced in a chemist’s lab.
LT: Is there a recipe for one of the skin care products that people could do at home?
NG and JP: Making skin care products at home is fun and super easy! One easy recipe we love to share is a simple sugar scrub. Take 1 cup of any fine sugar (white or brown), ½ cup of any carrier oil (olive, coconut) and 1 Vitamin E capsule. Mix these ingredients well and leave as is or you can add a few drops of an essential oil such as lavender for a calming scent. Enjoy!
