Shoot, Move, Communicate is photography exhibition illustrating the neighborhood of El Barrio through Dato Mio’s unique and well-expressed lens. Gentrification is the driving force for this exhibition and the title is a proclamation of the war happening in this historic neighborhood.
Shoot, Move, Communicate refers to the U.S. Army Infantry’s credo to efficiently maneuver through hostile situations. The “native” people of El Barrio are in a fight for their lives as the push for gentrification disfigures the neighborhood beyond recognition.
Block by block one sees the threat of destruction culminating in more and more condos existing alongside relics of “El Viejo Barrio.”
