Calle 13 gathered 48,500 pounds of food during their concert in Mexico for the greater cause of the hungry. The popular duo from Puerto Rico spread the word throughout Twitter. It was the idea of Rene “Residente” Perez Joglar to get on the social media websites to reach out to their fans to help with the cause. 50,000 people agreed to bring at least 2 pounds of rice and 2 pounds of beans in order to gain admission into the show. Primera Hora held a press conference and Joglar talked about how much impact social media can have on good causes. The food that was raised will be distributed to the disadvantaged communities in Mexico. Calle 13 seems to be on the good side of things.
