The Bilingual Rapper Has Released a New Remix, that’s No.8 on Billboard Charts
Cardi B’s breakout hit “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves),” has been huge on Billboard’s charts as of late — breaking the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 (hitting No. 8 on the Aug. 26 chart) and it’s about to get even bigger.
This “nena”from the Bronx, is formerly a stripper, who’s stage name was “Camilla”. Cardi B, built her career on her ability to rattle off one-liners like “I’mma get that schmoney” on the VH1 reality series “Love & Hip Hop.” During her time on the show, some viewers saw her as a hero of female empowerment, as she made pronouncements like “Ever since I started using guys, I feel so much better about myself. I feel so damn powerful.”
The Bronx rapper released a Latin Trap remix of the single which features the singer rapping the original tune in Spanish, along with an added verse from Latin trap pioneer, Messiah.
Cardi B first announced the new version of “Bodak” on social media Friday morning, saying she dropped the remix “to make my dad side of the family proud.” Cardi B’s father is Dominican, and she sang her hit in Spanish at the Dominican Day Parade in New York City on Aug. 13.
Messiah also posted the new remix on his Twitter Friday morning. The rapper was recently featured in Billboard’s “A Brief History of Latin Trap Music.”
With the latest remix of the song, Cardi B is helping her case for a potential No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. After the original version reached No. 8 on the Hot 100, “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves),” became the highest-charting single by an unaccompanied female rapper since Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” in 2014.
A couple of weeks ago, Cardi B was undecided on buying a purchase, so she called her father to discuss a car she was about to buy: an orange Bentley Bentayga S.U.V. with peach & cream interior as she described “To drive around Manhattan?” “I am a rapper,” Cardi B said. “I need this car.”
Ms. Foster, her publicist pointed out that she didn’t have a driver’s license. “I don’t know how to drive,” Cardi B admitted. She still purchased the car.
