As we enter the new year, the music scene is already buzzing with fresh talent, and one standout artist making waves is Xavi, a Mexican American singer hailing from Phoenix. At 19 years old, Xavi has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first solo artist of Mexican descent to claim the coveted No. 1 spot on the global Spotify chart with his single, “La Diabla.”

On January 2nd, Xavi’s infectious track reached the pinnacle of the Spotify chart, marking the fourth instance of a Mexican artist hitting No. 1 on the global stage.
The previous chart-toppers include Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma’s “Ella Baila Sola,” Grupo Frontera’s collaboration with Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny titled “Un 100xto,” and Peso Pluma’s music session with Argentine producer and DJ Bizarrap.
The music video for “La Diabla,” unveiled in late November, has already amassed an impressive 68 million views on YouTube. The success extends beyond Spotify, as the single also secured the top spot on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, dethroning Bad Bunny’s “Monaco.”

Xavi, born Joshua Xavier Gutierrez, initially rose to prominence with his debut single, “La Víctima,” released in August 2023. The poignant song about heartbreak gained viral traction on TikTok and reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart.
Currently boasting over 17 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Xavi’s musical journey has been nothing short of meteoric.

His path to success took a major turn when Interscope Records, known for managing artists like Karol G, Kali Uchis, and Selena Gomez, discovered him on social media after independently releasing music.
Xavi’s unique sound and undeniable talent have firmly established him as a rising star in the music industry, and his No. 1 position on the global Spotify chart is a testament to his growing influence and popularity.
