Covering. Protecting. Saving Lives. Every 45 seconds, a child dies in Africa from Malaria. This life-threatening disease is caused by parasites that are transmitted to people through bites of infected mosquitoes. Sub-Saharan Africa is plagued with this deadly crisis, accounting for 95 percent of Malaria related deaths. Custom Clothing Designers 5001 FLAVORS, have joined forces with ING Activewear, Touch The World and other dedicated supporters for the launch of the Code Purple campaign, one of the largest global initiatives to help save millions of African children and adults dying from Malaria every year.
ING Activewear has developed a fabric that is mosquito repellent and certified, which they have used to create a product called the MOSKEETO Hood-e. The MOSKEETO Hood-e, co-designed by 5001 FLAVORS is a certified product, which comes with a repellent that provides protection from Mosquitoes and other biting insects that carry known diseases such as Malaria, Dengue fever, West Nile, and Lime disease.
The ultimate mission of ING Activewear and the Code Purple campaign is to provide and distribute the MOSKEETO Hood-e to everyone living in high-risk areas throughout Africa. Underprivileged communities are at the highest risk of transmission and death, being unable to afford treatment and having limited resources to receive healthcare. Crucial funding is needed to bring this technology to the masses and offer support, prevention and education to the more than 225 million cases of Malaria reported each year worldwide.
On February 16, 2012 during New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at the Intrepid Sea, Space and Air Museum, ING Activewear in conjunction with Touch The World presents Code Purple: An Evening of Fashion and Fundraising. CODE PURPLE will be an unforgettable evening where everyone from A-List celebrities, fashion insiders, press/media and general public will all gather in philanthropic support of this global initiative. The evening will commence with a cocktail hour where guests will be privy to an exhibition style layout and receive information about the MOSKEETO Hood-e, fashion show and overall mission of the Code Purple Campaign. Attendees will then be ushered into the runway set for the program, featuring world-renowned designers 5001 FLAVORS, Lawrence Pizzi and By Barak. At the conclusion of the show, select pieces will be auctioned off in an open-bid format with a live auctioneer.
