Univision has announced that the last show will air on November 1st.
Host, Christina Saralegui, released a statement saying:
“It is bittersweet to announce the end of what has been a very
rewarding experience, but after many wonderful years, now is the
perfect time to retire the show and move on to the next exciting phase
of my career.”
She will still host specials on Univision but we’ll no longer have the
weekly talk show for the first time in 20 years. The Cuban Oprah,
aside from being a great host, doesn’t look a day older than she did
when the show started. So there’s still a lot of air time left in her.
The president of Univision made sure to give her due credit, in a statement:
“Cristina has been an inspirational and powerful force in the
television industry throughout her career and her celebrated show has
been one of the most beloved and popular programs in Spanish-language
television history.”
We couldn’t have said it better. We’re sad to see you go, but it could
be worse; it could be “Sabado Gigante” going off the air.
