NYILFF Announces Summer Movie Lineup
The New York International Latino Film Festival (NYILFF) organizers have just released their list of movies being shown August 14 -18. The festival, which celebrates the work of independent filmmakers, starts off with the critically acclaimed drama Filly Brown, directed by Michael Olmos. The classic movie, Selena will be played on opening night, which is the movie that launched Jennifer Lopez’s career.
Many are looking forward to Dominican night, an event at Columbia University which will feature the headlining flick Elliot Loves, a film about the adventures of a Dominican-American at two stages: as a nine year-old who is best friend to his single mom, and as a 21 year-old looking for love in New York City.
Wilmer Valderrama and Columbus Short, stars of The Girl Is In Trouble are expected to attend and answer Q&A’s after the viewing.

Ricky Martin Signs TV Deal With NBC Universal
Ricky Martin is focused on his acting career. So much so that Universal Television has signed a talent holding deal with Ricky. He will develop and star in his first network television series and specials. Universal TV EVP Bela Bajaria announced the news on Monday. “Ricky is an iconic superstar who is as talented as he is popular,” she said. “Whether he’s performing before sold-out concert crowds, or starring on Broadway, where he is currently playing to SRO in Evita, Ricky connects with his audience in a very palpable way — and we are thrilled that he will be adding TV star to his incredible resume.” We can’t wait to watch Ricky on TV!
Sofia Vergara Settles Contract Disputes
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sofia Vergara and the rest of the adult cast of Modern Family will all receive $175,000 per person per episode, with bonuses for the upcoming fourth season. As part of the new deal, the cast agreed to add an eighth year to their contracts and their salaries will reportedly reach about $350,000 per episode in the show’s eighth season.
