Eugenio Speaks About Eva Mendes His new film and On being a Director
Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez is becoming well known in amongst Amerincan audiences. Derbez is well known already with the latin community and is one of the most popular comedians of our time. His first time on mainstream was in last year’s “Jack and Jill.” He played the fun-loving Gardener and romantic interest to Adam Sandler’s female character “Jill.” This year he’s in the sitcom “¡ROB!” A CBS series, as “Hector,” the well meaning but often- annoying uncle to “Maggie,” played by Claudia Bassols. But his most recent project is the independent movie titled “Girl in Progress,” where work alongside with Eva Mendez. It hit theaters this pass friday premiering on Friday May 11. In the movie he play a dish washer at a resturaunt called “The Crab Shack,” that goes by the name of “Mission Impossible.” Derbez says “Everything for him is a mission impossible, conquering Eva Mendes is a mission impossible, trying to learn English is a mission impossible.” Therefore making the name appropriate for his character. Eva Mendes said that Derbez played his character with a lot of heart and feel, she says he was great to work with. She plays “Grace,” the girl he’s desperately tries to win over. Mexican singer Espinoza also plays a part in the film playing the part of Derbez cousin. She says “I met him shooting the film, he was afraid of acting, afraid of doing this, I told him to relax and I helped him with his lines.” The talented comedian, actor, producer and now director has a lot of things going on for him now of days serving as a executive producer to his Mexican comedy series “La Familia P. Luche. He also making his directorial debut in “Hombre de Piedra,” which is currently in production.
