In an interview with the British newspaper The Daily Mirror, the
“Other Guys” actress admits that her family is a little crazy.
According to Mendes, who is part Cuban:
“We’re great, crazy people! We’re quite loud too. Me and my family do
not know subtlety at all. I remember when I was little, like 12 years
old, I would have friends call up the house and say, ‘Oh sorry, I’ll
call back,’ because they would hear my loud family in the background.
And I would be like ‘Why?’ and they’d say, ‘You’re fighting.’ I’d have
to assure them we weren’t – we were just very loud.”
Yup, that sounds about right. She admits that being Cuban is a strong
part of her heritage and that family must have done something right,
because despite being seen as one of the world’s sexiest women, she
doesn’t let it get to her head.
She said:
“It is very flattering but, honestly, it’s all hair and make-up. Take
all of that away and I really am very average – just your girl next
door. When I’m at home that’s how I look. I’m just normal.”
She must not know that a lot of people wish they looked like her
“normal” but her humility is quite refreshing.
