Arcana Comics and The Vladar Company released a new graphic novel today titled “Head Smash.” Vlad Yudin created the story of “Head Smash,” and his partner Edwin Mejia was Editor on the project. Yudin is a Russian born writer, director and producer currently working on a docudrama titled “Generation Iron.”
Artist Tim Bradstreet (The Punisher, Hellraiser) created the cover art and the interior art was designed by Dwayne Harris (Game of Thrones, Warhammer). A limited-edition cover of the book was designed by director Joe Perez, behind Kanye West’s album covers. The sci-fi thriller comic is being adapted into a screenplay and has three video trailers online narrated by actor Bill Paxton (Titanic, Aliens).
I spoke to Edwin Mejia about the project which he describes as “A story of revenge, betrayal, salvation and love set in a fantasy city in a pre-acopolyptic world.”
“Head Smash” is an orphan who finds a safe haven in the army, The Horde, who run and dictate rules of the corrupt city of Ares. Smash is trained by his mentor Maurice and is sent on a mission to find a serum that he later finds gives him superhuman strength. He gets ambushed by his own people, left for dead and buried alive. His pregnant wife Leyla, gets kidnapped and Smash seeks revenge against the group that betrayed him.
“Head Smash” is part of a trilogy with the sequel being released in 2014.
