HBO Latino packed the house at Center 548 in New York City for the VIP screening of a concert special spotlighting Yandel. The sneak peak of “Yandel: Legacy-De Lider a Leyenda Tour, which was acquired from Sony Music Latin to air this Friday April 10th at 8pm by HBO Latino as a presentation in their HBO Latino Concert series was well received. In addition the original documentary special, Yandel: Camino al Concierto will air at 730pm that evening.
It was an entertaining evening with social media gifts and applications available throughout the evening. For example you could do a two second pose which would loop over and over which was quite an amusing touch. In addition there were vending machines which produced free chargers with Yandel promotion packaging which was acquired by tweeting a keyword which allowed for you to access. Another twitter application gave free t-shirts as well.
The event, which aired the film which highlighted the Cayey, Puerto Rico born artist road to his sold out concert last year in the James Agrelot Coliseum, with exclusive interviews and special coverage included the stars came out to support Yandel on the red carpet. 50 Cent, Denise Bidot (Habla Women), J.W Cortes (Gotham), executives from Sony Music/HBO Latino and Speedy (Luis Jimenez Show) were among the participants along with the event host and national radio personality, Alex Sensation who conducted a Q&A with Yandel in person before the showing.
Yandel, who actually began his career three years before joining with Wisin in 1995, saw them dominate the genre with nine albums that sold 20 million copies. Yandel is now promoting his second album since his solo turn. He has proven to be quite self sufficient with seven million facebook followers and has been supported in the concert on his film by Wisin, Tego Calderon, Farruko, as well as Gilberto Santa Rosa.
The screening covered more about his upbringing, his family, among other rare coverage points. It’s a project he is proud of and wants his public to view.
“It’s a concert, a documentary, and other things fans are not accustomed to seeing.”
Yandel pointed out,
“The fans will be very pleased with this concert, the genuine energy, and the great professionalism by all the artists involved.”
Yandel, as evidenced by this turnout, has confirmed himself as a star attraction on his own merits. The doubters who may have felt he could not do nearly as well away from his former teammate, Wisin, only have to view this special look at Yandel, an artist in his own right.
