Walking up steps to accept the Academy Award for Best Actress Sunday night, actress Jennifer Lawrence tripped forward, got up without any help and proceeded to make the best out of an extremely mortifying moment.
“Thank you,” a nearly breathless Lawrence said at the top of her speech. “You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell, and that’s really embarrassing. But thank you.”
Lawrence, 22, took home the prestigious award for her portrayal of Tiffany Maxwell—the love interest of Bradley Cooper’s character, Patrizio “Pat Jr.” Solitano—in “Silver Linings Playbook,” a critically acclaimed romantic comedy-drama written and directed by David O. Russell. The film received eight Oscar nominations in total, but only Lawrence’s resulted in a win.
Sporting a strapless white gown by Dior Haute Couture, Lawrence went on to thank her fellow nominees, her family and the entire “Silver Linings Playbook” cast and crew.
