The New York City Economic Development (NYCED) conducted a strategic study design to examine the state of NYC Fashion and the challenges facing the industry, conducted in partnership with Bain & Company and aided by discussions with hundreds of industry leaders[1],
The Producers of team of the Fu2ro Music and Fashion Awards has capitalized on the fact that New York City is the global fashion capital, taking into consideration the strong Latino presence in the city. In the most diverse borough of the United State, the Borough of Queens is producing the Fu2ro Fashion Award honoring this year three designers who have helped demonstrate the great diversity that is the New York City Fashion Industry.
Icel de Jesus, Dominican born designer with her line of Casual Wear ICENEWYORK Co. Paula Meneses, of Uruguay descent with her company International Simple Exchange, Inc, “Eco friendly Manufacture Source for Latin America Swimwear Collection.” And Jhony Calderon, from the Republic of Ecuador. Calderon has made a name for himself in dressing and designing elegant evening gowns for many of the local and international beauty pageants, acquiring a well know reputation of being one of the designers in the Latino Community to sport more winning dresses for the local beauty pageant candidates.
New York is the center of the American music industry, and by extension, is one of the major centers for popular music worldwide. The city attained an iconic musical status in the early 20th century. New York was the home for the punk rock and New Wave movements, and was also the scene for the invention of both hip hop music and Latino salsa music.
Fu2ro Music Award recognizes that music of New York City is a diverse and important field in the world of music. It has long been a thriving home for jazz, rock and the blues. It is the birthplace of hip hop, Latin freestyle, bebop, disco, and punk rock as well as the birthplace of Salsa music. Salsa was born from a fusion of Cuban, Puerto Rican and Dominican influences that came together in New York’s Latino neighborhoods in the 1960s.
Considering that during the week of April 23- 25 The Billboard Latin Music Conference and Awards takes place in Miami, The City of New York through the Fu2ro Music Awards will be honoring and encouraging our local, national and international artistic talent from diverse Latin American communities and countries.
The Fu2ro Music Awards has partnered with Desert Wolf Films to be able to honor those who are making a positive and significant contribution in the industry of Fashion and Music in the greatest city in the world. Often times this contributions goes unnoticed and unrewarded, by those who generously donate and contribute their time to diverse non-for-profit, models, beauty pageants with low to no budget to their national countries of origin.
On April 25- 2013 at Fiesta New York also known as Mamajuana Café, located in 33-15 56TH Street, Woodside Queens, NY 11377, the Fu2ro Fashion and Music Awards will be taking place from 6pm to 8pm. The red carpet event will take place with performances from attending artists. The music will be played by DJ Emil LMP and Brava sound Entertainment, and many more surprises.
