Mexican actor Rafael Amaya joins a long list of dynamic performers set to begin production on the Hallmark Original Movie “Meddling Mom”.
“Meddling Mom” was written by Nina Weinman from a story by Paul Longo and is being directed by the prodigal director Patricia Cardozo (“Real Women Have Curves”, “In Plain Sight”). The story follows the life of Carmen Vega, who is guilty of slipping into her daughters lives leaving behind “How to” and “When to” books on baby-making for her eldest, manipulating youngest daughter into a doomed relationship with her best friend’s son and having her real boyfriend pulled of an important account. Basically, Carmen is guilty of getting into every other family member’s social life except her own. Now, the notorious “meddling mom” will get a crash course in butting out when she gets ahold of some information she shouldn’t have.
Sharing the silver screen with the talented Rafael Amaya will be Sonia Braga (“Angel Eyes,” “Páginas Da Vida”), Tony Plana (“Desperate Housewives,” “Ugly Betty”), Mercedes Renard (“NCIS”), Ana Ayora (“Marley & Me,” “Phoenix Falling”), Saundra Santiago (“One Life to Live,” “The Sopranos”), Rose Abdoo (“2 Broke Girls,” “Gilmore Girls”), George Contreras (“The O.C.”), Rob Mayes (“Jane By Design”) and John Nielsen (“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”).
The two-hour Hallmark Channel Original Movie is slated to premiere on Mother’s Day 2013.
Amaya has had a string of great professional successes worldwide after starring in “La Reina del Sur”, the most-watched soap opera in Telemundo’s history, and the Spanish series “Hospital Central” and “Doctor Mateo”. He was named one of “50 Most Beautiful” by People en Español. The actor also surprised the industry showcasing another facet of his talent as the host of the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2011.
Amaya moved earlier this year to Los Angeles and Hallmark’s “Meddling Mom” marks his first production in Hollywood.
