Puerto Rico’s music duo, Axcel & Andrew, also known as “Los Brothers” are bringing their Reggaeton style and contagious beat off their first single “La Oportunidad” to the US!
After rapidly gaining astounding popularity in Latin America, Axcel & Andrew are another example of contemporary music being born on digital platforms and spreading like wildfire throughout the world.
In a phone interview with “Los Brothers” Axcel & Andrew tell LatinTrends their story:
How did you guys get the name “Los Brothers?”
“We became best of friends while in High School and always hung out together especially when we starting doing music, so people just starting calling us “Los Brothers.” It just stuck!”
How did you guys get into music?
“It was Andrew who drew me to music, he was always writing lyrics and singing songs,” said Axcel. “Then one day Andrew suggested, ‘Why don’t you and I get together and see if we can make music?’ See what we come up with? So I said to Andrew, yea sure let’s do it!”
“We eventually starting making mixtapes from my home studio and realized that our music became our passion and we wanted everyone to hear our music!” said Axcel.
“La Oportunidad” is your first single on your debut album “El Futuro.” Is there a video out?
“We just wrapped up the video. It should be out next month on most video music stations and YouTube. We will also announce throughout social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter” said Axcel. “Una sorpresita navideña,” added Andrew.
What music artists out there would you guys say were your music influences?
“’Hector El Father’ who is now retired was definitely our biggest influence along with artists like; Wisin y Yandel and Daddy Yankee,” responded the duo.
The duo will spend the next three years developing their musical concept and polishing their sound and style. With a contemporary urban sound. They revealed their music to the world with the release of “Si Te Dice Que Si,” an instant hit.
After receiving impressive reviews from the public, Axcel & Andrew became more motivated and invested more time and money into a better recording studio. After quitting their day jobs, the duo spent day and night dedicating themselves to their craft, their art, their music.
It was after a Christmas event where the duo sang select songs from their collection, never heard outside the studio which stunned the audience. This helped “Los Brothers” become known within the urban music circles of Puerto Rico.
Shortly after that performance offers started to come in, however it was Héctor Delgado (Héctor El Father) who contacted Axcel & Andrew.
“It was our icon ‘Héctor El Father’ who introduced us to J Alverez who signed us to his label; On Top Of The World Music,” said Andrew.
Their second mixtape titled “Los Brothers” which featured urban powerhouses such as Franco ‘El Gorilla’ and Colombian superstar, Maluma attributed to the continued growth of the duo’s incredible amount of success in Latin America.
We hear you guys are doing quite well in Latin America, particularly Colombia, what are your thoughts on that?
“Bogota was our first promotional trip and we where able to open a show in Medellin in front of 40,000 people, it was incredible experience” said Axcel.
“We received wonderful support in many parts Colombia. The public was very welcoming to us and our music and we are very thankful,” said Andrew.
“La Oportunidad” will be included in the album 1K ‘El Futuro’ that is set to be released this November under the record label, On Top Of The World Music.
