Columbian actress Sofia Vergara, famously known for her role as Gloria in ABC’s “Modern Family”, recently revealed that her former publicist suggested she get a breast reduction in order to land serious roles in Hollywood.
In a recent interview, the actress dished on her insecurities regarding her body when she first came to the US. She stated, “When I moved to America, I was more voluptuous, and I felt a little different. And one time, years ago, I remember my publicist told me, ‘I think you should just reduce your boobs because nobody’s going to take you seriously here.”
Luckily, to the relief of many fans, Vergara’s mother intervened in the matter and expressed complete opposition to the idea. According to the actress, her mother claimed God would punish her if she were to go through with a breast reduction.
Although Vergara felt uncomfortable about her chest for a long time, she stated she eventually grew more confident after receiving positive feedback from a commercial in which she posed in a bathing suit.
The star claimed she felt no regret in not having proceeded with a breast reduction, for it is a definitive part of her character in “Modern Family”. After all, who would Maria be without that chest?
