The non-profit organization, Aid for AIDS, and the popular Latino magazine, LatinTRENDS, joined forces to feature talented musicians, showcase and auction great art and most importantly, fund raise for people with aids in countries that can not afford the proper treatment and medication.
The event presented the Mezcla award, which gives recognition to those dedicated to empowering the Latino community. The honorees were TONY nominated actress of the Broadway musical “In The Heights,” Olga Merediz, the creator of Latinvision Media Inc., Carlos Vassallos, and the media team at FoxNewsLatino.com.
The star-studded gala featured amazing performances by Barbra Herr, Zing Experience, Lea McGowen, J. Truly and from HBO’s “Habla Women,” Rosemery Almonte.
Renowned Latino artists donated the art that were auctioned at La Nacional Exhibit Space in New York. All gross proceeds from the auction benefits Aid for AIDS. The event helps Aid for Aids “provide free medication to people with HIV in developing countries who do not have access to treatment,” states AFA’s website.
