In the world of online gaming, when you die you may be revived by some healer, get a chance to restart at some restarting point, or would simply have to wait for another round to begin whatever type of game you are playing. However, when you’re playing online gaming…existing within the real world, when you’re dead, you’re dead. No resurrection, no restarting point, and no waiting for the next game start. You’re a goner. That’s what happened to man in China, according to the Beijing Times
The unnamed man was in his thirties and died after having spend a total of three whole days gaming online, and after 72 hour marathon without sleep, food, or even moving the man collapsed and slipped into unconsciousness at a Internet café on the outskirts of Beijing China. Reportedly spending more than 10,000 yuan (estimated $1,500), the man slipped into a coma last Monday evening and was rushed to a nearby clinic where he later died.
Police led an investigation at the internet café, removing several computers trying to figure out what could have possibly happen. Homicide has been ruled out, and are currently examining for any other specific causes of death. According to researchers, there are tens of millions (an estimated 30 million) of people within the country (many of them teenagers) who are extremely addicted to internet gaming. The gaming world has gotten so advanced, that it’s not even safe to simply stay home and play in front of your computer anymore.
