Si Se Puede!
Democrat Francisco Moya is the first Ecuadorian-American to win an election for a senior position in U.S. politics. He used to work as an assistant to Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez in Washington, D.C., eventually working at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens. He gained funds to purchase a new mammography machine and develop more efficient health clinics. Moya lost two races for councilman, losing to Dominican-American Julissa Ferreras. In November 2010, the seat for State Assembly for District 39, overseeing Queens’ neighborhoods Corona, Jackson Heights, and Elmhurst was available for Moya. He is a politician for the Latino community, aspiring us to do better. “I feel very honored to make history in the Ecuadorian community and be able to represent my district in Albany”, Moya told AOL Noticias. “I have dedicated my life to improve my community and work tirelessly in Albany to create new jobs, better schools and safe streets for our families. There will fight for reform in Albany to restore the faith of our communities in state government. ” A new year, a new face, and soon… a better community.
