Tip 1: Frizz-Free in the Frost
Whether your hair is relaxed or straight, using leave-in conditioners, like Mixed Chicks’ Leave-In Conditioner, are great. Mixed Chicks’ Leave-In Conditioner is light enough that it won’t interfere with your styling product. Ideally, styling products should be used when hair is wet. Instead of using terry cloth towels to dry hair, use t-shirts. T-shirts are able to remove some of the water from your hair without creating frizz.
Tip 2: Curly To Straight w/o Heat Damage
It’s important to practice wash-and-wear styling three days before you engaging in heat styling. Also, try overnight conditioning with a plastic cap using Shea Moisture Raw Shea Restorative Hair Conditioner, which is a great conditioning treatment. You may also try Hair Rules Blow It All Out, a heat protectant that helps keep hair straight, soft and less brittle during the cold and dry season.
Tip 3: Moisturizing Hair
There are several things that you can use to incorporate into your leave-in conditioners to keep hair moisturized.. For textures that are really dry, like kinky and coarse textures, you can add items found at home or in the Target grocery aisle, like olive oil or coconut oil. Both are really great for sealing the ends of your hair.
Tip 4: Volumizing Hair
Adjusting your products during the winter months is essential for maintaining volume. You should transition from cream products to lightweight products that are water based. Mousse is a great option – like Hair Rules Wavy Mousse – as it’s lightweight formula is great for both curly and straight styles. Additionally you can use at-home products to help aid voluminous styles. Adding rosewater or lavender to a water bottle will help add volume and moisture to styles.
Tip 5: Fighting Fly-aways
Camille Rose’s Almond Jai Twisting Butter is great as it seals your hairline while adding shine. For kinky/curly textures, it also gives curls and coils extra definition. Additionally, applying gel with a toothbrush allows you to grasp specific hair strands.
