Chiquis Rivera has confirmed that she will be playing her late mother in an upcoming biographical movie about Jenni Rivera. The 28-year-old, who is bares a similar resemblance to her mother is reportedly taking acting and dancing lessons to prepare for the part. The Rivera family has approved plans for the film about “La Diva de la Banda” who died in a plane crash in December 2012 at the age of 43.
Chiquis tells Univision, “It would be an honor to portray my mother in a movie.” “But … for me, whoever is fine, as long as it is done with a lot of love and respect for my mother.”
Italia Cantoral was supposed to play Rivera in a different film, but was recently fired for bad behavior and excessive drinking.
Chiquis is no stranger to the tabloids as it was rumored she had an affair with her stepfather former MLB pitcher Esteban Loaiza. Rivera denies the affair and unfortunately was not on speaking terms at the time of Jenni’s death. We wonder if that will make it into the film. Otherwise, we are looking forward to seeing it!
