Recently rumors surfaced across the web that Camp Rock and Sonny with a Chance
star Demi Lovato would be joining the line-up playing an unidentified role in
Marvel’s The Avengers movie. Rumors went around the internet that Lovato would
accompany actors Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), and
Scarlet Johansson (Black Widow) for the comic book’s film adaptation directed by
Joss Whedon as a fellow female action hero.
However, the rumors were quickly discredited after the news created a negative
response from upset fans of the Avengers comics who believed Lovato would be
portraying first female team-member Janet van Dyne also known as The Wasp. After
Radar online reported Lovato was “up for a role” to “she’s in it” sources from
Marvel and Lovato’s camp said the rumors of her being cast in the film were
simply just rumors. Despite sources reporting Lovato not appearing in the
upcoming film, why not have a Latina actress fill the spot Marvel is looking for
in having another female actress join the all-male hero cast.
Back in 2008, after being pictured leaving the Marvel Studios in Los Angeles
carrying some questionable materials (comics), Desperate Housewife star Eva
Longoria has been long rumored to be donning the wings of The Wasp and gossiped
to be portraying the fashion designer/heroine Janet van Dyne. Similar to Lovato
being cast in the movie, Longoria addition to the film was simply that, a rumor.
A recent psyhic prediction on Entertainment Tonight revealed that Longoria’s
career will skyrocket after her divorce so maybe it will come after she dons a
superhero outfit?
The film directed by Joss Whedon who also penned it with writer Zak Penn is
expected to go into production Spring 2011.
