It is Saturday night and people may decide to have a date night, go out to a concert or a club or even go to the movies as a small ritual. For movie buffs, these people follow the actors in each film that they do and look forward to seeing them in their character. If the movie has a series, they are probably one of the first ones in line when the movies come out.
As part of the Dominican Film Festival that originally took place in June, selected films were viewed again to the public at a second date that was in October. These films included A Ritmo de Fe (Rhythm of Faith), Jaque Mate (Check Mate), Lotoman 2.0, and La Lucha de Ana (Ana’s Struggle). Some of the films were in Spanish, with English subtitles and the audience seemed to enjoy and be engaged with the movies that were being shown.
Members of the community were eager to see the films as well as take a look at the festivities that were held outside of the United Palace Theater where the films were being shown.
The Dominican Film Festival (DFFNY) showcases new generation of talent as well as established filmmakers in the industry and is in its second year.
