On Saturday, April 3rd, Walter Scott was shot eight times in the back by Charleston, South Carolina, police officer Michael Slager. The officer claimed that Scott attempted to take his stun gun when the officer withdrew it. Scott was shot in back as he ran from the officer. This all occurred in an open lot, where there could have easily been no witnesses – expect for one: Feidin Santana.
Feiden Santana, a young Dominican living in Charleston, SC, initially was going to delete the video, because he was sacred of what the police might do to him, decided to not do so and come forward with the video after he saw the news and what the police were saying. “What they were saying, was not how it happened,” said Santana.
The video shows Officer Slager firing the eight rounds at Scott as he ran from the officer. Though the officer claimed that Scott tried to take his stun gun and that he attempted CPR when Scott’s bullet-riddled was on the ground, Santana knows what he saw and recorded, so it’s all mentiras to him.
Since the video’s release, Slager has been fired from the North Charleston Police Department and is being charged with murder. According to ABC News, Slager had two other civilian complaints, but very little was done.
Does this just add fuel to the fire for all the “cop hatred” that has come into light since the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, Missouri and Eric Garner in Staten Island?
