ESPN Deportes continues to produce original content with the debut of the network’s new show, El Bar, Friday, September 14 at 9 p.m. ET. Presented exclusively by Coors Light, El Bar redefines how, where and what a ‘talk-show’ is supposed to be: intimate, authentic and spontaneous.
“Our alliance with Coors Light will help ESPN Deportes present unique, relevant and intimate conversations with top Hispanic sports figures to our audience in a new way,” said John Fitzgerald, VP Multimedia Sales, ESPN Deportes. “We are excited to work with Coors Light as the exclusive presenting partner of El Bar and deliver the experience sports fans are looking for.”
Never the same, El Bar will frequently move to new locations, different crowds and fresh scenes with sports idols and personalities of the entertainment industry. The show will deliver casual and culturally relevant dialogue, inviting Hispanic sports fans to take a seat and feel as if they are at the table.
“We’re very excited to be part of this new format with ESPN Deportes,” said Jackie Woodward, VP Media and Marketing Services at MillerCoors. “ESPN is a great partner of Coors Light – we value their approach in consistently offering new and engaging ways to reach our consumers. El Bar is an innovative way to connect the Coors Light brand with our consumers and we can’t wait to see it take off!”
During the first installment of the new series, El Bar joins boxing luminaries Oscar De La Hoya and Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. for an in-depth conversation – meeting for the first time since last fighting in 1998 and appropriately on the eve of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.’s fight against Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez.
Friday night’s episode with “The Golden Boy” and Chavez Sr. covers a wide range of topics, including their humble beginnings and the journey to the top, and how the love of the sport led to their iconic careers. The two icons also detail the differences between starting and continuing a boxing career in Mexico and the United states while revealing insights about lifestyle, depression and redemption. This first episode of El Bar closes with a discussion about Chavez’ son’s fight this weekend against Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez, and De La Hoya’s protégé, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’ fight against Josesito Lopez.
