Special Exclusive Report for LatinTRENDS by: Bernadette Giacomazzo
The Washington Heights-based business La Marina has been much-discussed on various social networks, including Twitter and Instagram, for being the latest go-to spot for the NYC glitterati. Located on Dyckman Street, the venue boasts enviable views of NYC (see above) and a relaxed atmosphere.
Of course, because of this, La Marina has become a go-to hangout spot for many members of the hip-hop community — both rising and established, both black and Latino/Hispanic.
Recently, however, the Dominican-owned and operated venue has come under fire for racist remarks. The photo below has made its rounds around the Twitter and Instagram universe, and the club took an undeniable hit in attendance as an end result.
LatinTRENDS does NOT condone racism or discrimination of any kind. We invite the owners/operators of La Marina to explain their side of the story — to explain why such a statement has been made about clientele of any kind. We will gladly provide a platform here for them to explain their side of the story.
