In recent news, a woman of East Harlem was struck in the head with a Target shopping cart from a fourth-story distance in the new urban mall on E116th St. Who were the culprits? Two 12-year-old Latino boys.
Geraldo Rivera, senior columnist for Fox News Latino, asks “where are the dads?” He noticed that the boys had no fathers at home. These two boys are among the 52% of New York Latino households that have no father, as opposed to NY African American households, which is 66%, according to Casey Foundation’s “Kids Count” program.
Ironically, the victim, Marion Hughes, devotes her life to helping kids, like the two boys, stay out of trouble, Rivera stated in his Fox News Latino column.
The boys are being charged as juveniles and will receive 18 months in prison. Some may believe that’s just a slap on the wrist. During the hearing, none of their fathers were present.
