Suspect in the shooting of an off-duty narcotics officerwas caught Monday afternoon in Waterbury, Connecticut. The suspect, Samuel Ventura, was caught after shooting a off-duty narcotics officer, Detective Richard Olmo, who tried to break up a fight between Ventura and another individual after a bender-fender outside of Pelham Bay diner in the Bronx. Olmo was out with loved ones celebrating his first son’s 1st birthday when leaving the diner, Olmo tried to stop the fighting between Ventura and another individual. Even after identifying himself as an officer, Ventura pulled out a gun and shot Olmo in, all of the places, his buttocks. The bullet pierced through both buttocks missing his colon. The detective was hospitalized at Jacobi Medical Center and listed in stable condition. Ventura’s arrest comes after police officers questioned two suspects, acquaintances of Ventura.
