Beyoncé to Headline Super Bowl XLVII
The Associated Press reported that Beyoncé would be headlining the Super Bowl halftime show in February. Super Bowl XLVII will be at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on February 3, 2013. After the AP broke the story, the singer took to her blog to confirm the gig by showing a photo of her face with eyeblack featuring the words “Feb. 3 2013.” That, of course, is the date of Super Bowl XLVII. She also used the caption “countdown to touchdown” on her website to acknowledge the report that she would sing during the biggest U.S. sporting and television event of the year. The annual NFL championship attracts more than 100 million TV viewers and high profile pop acts for its halftime show. Previous performers have included Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Diana Ross, Bruce Springsteen, U2 and Paul McCartney.
Mario Lopez Hosting X Factor
After weeks of speculation, it looks like Mario Lopez will officially be joining Demi Lovato, Britney Spears and Simon Cowell on The X Factor. The Extra alum has reportedly signed on to be a co-host for the fall live shows alongside Khloe Kardashian. “The worst kept secret in Hollywood is out,” said Simon Cowell. “Mario and Khloé are our hosts. They will debut on our first live show in November and I couldn’t be happier.” “I’m very excited to be joining The X-Factor team,” Lopez said. “I love the show, and I’ve been a big fan of Simon Cowell and the judges for a long time. Khloé and I have been friends for years and I know we’ll be a great team and have a blast.” In past 10 years Mario has taken on hosting duties for shows like H8R, America’s Best Dance Crew and Pet Star on Animal Planet. The Extra host and star of E!’s Keeping Up with The Kardashians will begin appearing on the reality competition midway through its current second season. Lopez and Kardashian will start on the show in time for the show’s switch from taped to live episodes next month.
Gael Garcia Bernal & Diego Luna Sue Whiskey Label
Actors and longtime friends Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna are seeking legal action against Scottish whisky Johnnie Walker. Both Gael and Diego are suing Johnnie Walker for using their images in their Walk With Giants campaign without their authorization. The two believe “Johnnie” profited off their images and they want their cut of the revenue. “The damage was caused by the illicit production of television commercials, showing and reproducing my image without my authorization, and also including my story, fame, and family and private matters,” Gael García Bernal said, according to newspaper Reforma.
