The popular cosmetic company M.A.C will launch a makeup collection inspired by the beloved Latin singer, Selena Quintanilla, in 2016.
The beauty brand announced on their Instagram a limited edition makeup collection that pays tribute to the late great Tejano musical icon Selena.
“Selena’s talent and beauty, inside and out have, have left a colourful, meaningful impact in the world, that has continued to grow over the last two decades,” says M.A.C. Senior Vice President, James Gager. “We have heard the passion and enthusiasm from her fans and wholeheartedly agree that her legacy embodies M.A.C.’s philosophy. We are so excited to announce a Selena inspired M.A.C collection debuting in the latter part of 2016.”
Even though MAC Cosmetics is known for creating product lines that are inspired by movies, artists and celebrities this time the kudos goes to Selena fans that petitioned for this collection on Change.org.
“As a huge fan and customer of MAC Cosmetics and Latina woman, we want MAC Cosmetics to create a line that represents the community that shops MAC make-up,” the petition reads. “Selena Quintanilla is an iconic legend in our community and would she be alive, she’d be a perfect MAC girl!”
āLike the legend herself,ā @MACcosmetics said on their social media page, āSelena Quintanillaās fans are an inspiration to us for their love and enthusiasm. Itās happening!ā
Well, who said protesting doesnāt work? Now only if we can use this energy to change U.S. immigration laws and universal health care for all.
Selena released her last album in 1995 and died more than two decades ago. Fortunately, in delight of Selenaās fans and family members, her legacy and her dreams continues to inspire the masses.
“I am so excited that M.A.C Cosmetics will be releasing a collection in honor of my sister Selena,” says her older sister, Suzette Quintanilla. “Helping to create this collection brings me back to all those late night conversations on our tour bus when she spoke of having her own makeup line one day. If Selena were here she would be beyond ecstatic to have this happening. History is being made.”
