President Trump has pissed off Marc Anthony (again) …he wants the president to turn his attention away from NFL player protests — and toward the crisis in hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico.
Marc is pissed off and bluntly called out Trump, saying …”Mr. President shut the f**k up about NFL. Do something about our people in need in Puerto Rico. We are American citizens too.”
The iconic singer is anger stems from the difficult crisis that Puerto Rico is suffering in the wake of Hurricane Maria. The island’s power grid remains crippled, a massive dam is crumbling, hospitals don’t have running water, people are desperate and dying and there’s extremely limited communication.
Marc has joined his ex, Jennifer Lopez’s efforts to send aid to the island — but, clearly, he’s screaming for action from the white house.
Officials warned last week that the island could be without power for six months, and Gov. Ricardo Rosselló said Monday that the federal government’s response to the devastation has been extremely slow.
“We still need more help. This is clearly a critical disaster in Puerto Rico,” Rosselló told news outlets “It can’t be minimized and we can’t start overlooking us now that the storm passed, because the danger lurks.”
Trump launched a war of words this weekend over NFL players who kneel during the national anthem. Trump told a crowd at a rally in Alabama Friday that NFL owners should fire players who don’t stand during the anthem, referring to them as “sons of bitches.”
Players across the NFL kneeled and locked arms during the playing of the national anthem on Sunday in response to Trump’s attacks, which continued on twitter Saturday and Sunday.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders faced several questions during a press briefing Monday about Trump’s NFL tweets. She pushed back on critics who said Trump wasn’t paying enough attention to Puerto Rico.
“He’s not emphasizing sports,” Sanders said.
The White House announced Monday it was sending two top officials to the island territory to assess the damage.
