
PORFIRIO PINA ENTERTAINMENT, INC., was founded by Porfirio Piña, a music business executive with a 20 plus years experience in the industry. Piña recently held the position of Senior Director of Writer/Publisher Relations at Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI). His company will focus in artist management and consulting in music publishing, branding, marketing and promotion.

Porfirio Pina Entertainment, Inc., starts operations with an artist roster that includes such names as renowned producer Pavel De Jesús (Proyecto Uno, Ilegales, Sandy & Papo MC, Joselito and KMW); Manuel Alejandro Ruiz p.k.a Boy Wonder (Chosen Few Compilations) Vladimir Dotel (Ilegales)—who in 2012 landed 3 singles on Billboard’s Tropical Charts”: “Yo No Soy Un Monstruo”, by Elvis Crespo feat. Ilegales (# 1); “Ayantame” by Ilegales feat. El Potro Álvarez(#1) and “Tu” by Omar Enrique feat. Ilegales (#6). Piña is the President of the BMI Foundation, Inc, a not-for-profit corporation founded in 1985 dedicated to encouraging the creation, performance and study of music through awards, scholarships, internships, grants, and commissions.
Back in 1989, Piña started his career as President and Co-Owner of PNP Productions. There, he formed and managed Proyecto Uno as the first ever merengue-hip-hop group. The first two albums of Proyecto Uno were a major commercial success and sold over 2 million copies worldwide, reaching #1 in USA, Mexico, Central America, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile and Spain.
His professional development in the music industry was nurtured by the involvement in countless conferences and speaking engagements at multiple key events of the recording industry and in schools and universities nationwide. In 2006, Piña was recognized by DTM Magazine with the Latino Trendsetters Award and in 2008, US Latin newspaper El Diario – La Prensa as one of the Successful Latinos in the USA with EL Awards.
Piña is also a Board of Governors and voting member at the Recording Academy (Grammy), voting member of the Latin Recording Academy (Latin Grammy), voting member of the Songwriter Hall of Fame and the Latin Songwriter Hall of Fame, member of the National Academy of Popular Music, member of the NYC Latin Media and Entertainment Commission and the Association of Independent Music Publisher, among other professional organizations.
