Since her career began at the age of 10 and she later received wide recognition as Alex Russo on Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place, Selena Gomez has not only become a household name but she has grown up before both the cameras and America. The young Latina actress continues to grow becoming both a Celebrity and a young Lady before the eyes of her adoring fans.
After its five year, Gomez put her spell-casting days at Wizards of Waverly Place behind to fully embrace her growing career. With her third studio album When the Sun Goes Down, released last year, going certified platinum Gomez is hard at work on her yet-to-be released fourth album and is currently writing tracks with her boyfriend and fellow teen superstar Justin Bieber. Along with her album, Gomez recently launched both a new fragrance and fashion line.
Along with her musical and fashion growth, Gomez is still growing as an actress. Currently taking on more adult-ish roles, Gomez is currently wrapped up her latest flick a comedy drama about four girls who find themselves in jail after robbing a restaurant. It’s a little bit of a departure for me,” said Gomez, talking about the movie entitled Spring Breakers in-which she appears on-screen with James Franco, “It’s a little scandalous in a way, but it was a great script, a great director and working with James [Franco] was an honor.” Taking on a more adult role isn’t the only thing Gomez is doing.
In an action-crime film entitled Getaway, Gomez started to do her own stunt work. “I’ve never been in car chasing scenes, and being thrown around and all of that stuff was fun for me,” said Gomez, discussing her work on the film in-which she stars along with Ethan Hawke and John Voight. The film is scheduled to be released sometime this year.
And while she garners in new endeavors with her growing fame, Gomez says that while she has grown from a teenager to a young lady before the public eye she has stayed true to who she is. “I’m still the same person, but getting older having more experiences, just being a little more independent. It’s kind of a little bit of a change but not too drastic,” a true motto from a true role model.
