Shakira and Prince Royce have won a majority of the nominations for the 2012 Premio Lo Nuestro. The nominees were recently announced on Spanish entertainment news show “El Gordo y La Flaca”.
Premio Lo Nuestro, which began in 1989, features famous Latino actors, musicians, and other notable people in the business. The awards show contains 35 categories covering the most popular genres in Latin music. Winners are chosen by popular vote from the public.
Shakira has been nominated for six different categories, including “Artist of the Year” and “Song of the Year” for her popular song “Rabiosa”. The Columbian star is having a great year in her career. She was recently named “Person of the Year” at the Latin Grammies in early November. She, along with singer Tito “El Bambino”, has dominated the categories with the most nominations for the award ceremony next year.
Prince Royce was not far behind with five nominations, including “Urban Song of the Year”. Other nominees for the award show include Mana, Ricky Martin, Natalia Jimenez, Daddy Yankee, and Gloria Trevi.
Premio Lo Nuestro will take place in Miami on February 16, 2012.
