On a recent trip to Las Vegas , “Kids Pocket Change” airing on WDJZ, covered the ASD Las Vegas Trade Show (www.asdonline.com). ASD is a premiere trade show event for buyers and sellers. With over 80,000 attendees and over 3000 suppliers, this event is organized by Nielsen Exhibitions biannually in Las Vegas .
The exhibition booths ranged in the categories of Gift & Toy, Style & Beauty, Jewelry, Value & Variety, China Brand, and International Sourcing. Wholesalers and Retailers travel from China , New York , Virginia , Los Angeles , and other regions to gather under the roof of one of the largest convention centers in the world, the Las Vegas Hilton.
The environment was filled with the buzz of sellers and buyers negotiating and making deals on the floor of the convention center, for four straight days. And when the walking became too much, the ASD beauty oasis was the lush lounge of preference, filled with free beauty treatments to distress from the hustle.
The “Star” of the beauty oasis – and of the trade show in my opinion- was Eyelashes from X-Otic (xoticeyes.com). Make-up art as a stick on that is reusable? Shannon Maxey, the innovative young lady behind X-Otic, has created the product that all inventors dream of! Her product is fresh, innovative, colorful and soon to be a trend setter!
“As wholesalers we need to continue to build upon established customer relationships and invite new business” said the owner of Silver Dragon Oriental Apparel, located in El Monte , CA . New business was the buzz word shared from many exhibitors. “We do our best.” expressed Joseph Saad and Johana Libreros, of Jostel & Co. Inc, Costume Jewelry & Hair Accessories of Manhattan.
The trade show provides a thriving environment for the ever changing retail industry to continue to expand. On-line sources, Made-in-China.com, alibaba.com, TopTenWholesale.com, Manufacturer.com, OffPriceNetwork.com, where among some of the representatives at the expo. Also, the launch of ASDSourceBook.com is an ideal tool for wholesale merchandise.
Our business world continues to get smaller and barrier lines thin! If you are a retailer or wholesaler, post your comments or questions.
A special thanks to the coordinators of the event, especially to Nicole Leinbach Reyhle, Christopher McCabe, Lori Higgins and Rosalind Ann Napoli.
