Efren Ramirez, famous for his breakout role as Pedro in the hit film “Napoleon Dynamite” will be reprising his role, only this time, he’s a cartoon!
The FOX network will be picking up where the odd yet popular film left us off in a spinoff animated television series. In a recent interview with “Latina.com”, the star revealed some information regarding the new production, stating, “So in the movie, [Napoleon] becomes friends with Pedro and in the animated series, we can really explore the characters.”
According to the star, fans may have to dig out those “Vote for Pedro” t-shirts once more. “In the animated series, you’ll see Pedro as {class} president for the first time. At some point he does become mayor. He’s moving on up.” Pedro for mayor? I’d vote for him!
Ramirez went on to explain why producers opted for an animated series rather than the typical sequel or prequel that seems to follow most hit films nowadays. He said, “It’s a film that families sit together, watch and enjoy. So of course there was talk of a sequel or prequel, but they wanted to do something that was appropriate because you don’t want to disappoint the audience, you know?” Yes, Efron, we most definitely do know.
Hopefully the show will achieve, as “Latina.com” puts it, a ‘cult following’. The series is set to premiere this Sunday at 8:30pm.
