Day by day it appears that the Cuban and American relationship is beginning to flourish since eight new airports have been given the go-ahead to schedule charter flights from several United States cities to and from Cuba. Before there were only flights permitted from Los Angeles, Miami, and New York to the country but now Customs and Border Protection Officials say charter flights to Cuba can be taken from airports in Chicago, Dallas, New Orleans, Tampa, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, including San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The decision comes thanks to a broad effort between the United States and Cuba to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. Although charter flights are being permitted to the country, US tourist travel within the Cuba will be restricted to reasons known as “purposeful,” meaning that passengers aboard these flights must have close relatives in Cuba or be involved in agricultural business or medical sectors, according to Customs and Border Protection Officials. Along with these purposeful reasons, travelers can go to the country for education or religious activities. This seems to be one step to visiting a small country with a thriving culture. Here’s to the growing relationship, may it continue getting stronger.
