In case you missed it: During an interview with Rep. Xavier Becerra on Telemundo’s Enfoque yesterday, news anchor José Díaz-Balart called out GOP presidential candidates for failing to outline a solution for 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S. Two months after Díaz-Balart asked Republican candidates on the Reagan debate for real solutions on immigration, Republicans have not come forth with an answer. Rep. Becerra said Republicans are kowtowing to the anti-immigrant wing of the party.
DIAZ BALART: During the Reagan Library debate, I tried to find out what their approach would be. Not one of the candidates answered my question – what would they do after sealing the border? They don’t have a plan B. (Translation)
BECERRA: “We need a bipartisan approach. This has to be a solution by Democrats and Republicans.” (Translation)

Translated Excerpt:
BECERRA: Some of my friends in Congress – and I know you know them, Jose — are good on the immigration issue. But most of them are unfortunately –
DIAZ-BALART: they’re very few.
BECERRA: They’re being held captive by these anti-immigrant policies. And unfortunately the Republican Party has gone down that dark path on the immigration issue. Immigrants work very hard and are uplifting for the country. And when they are the victims of political blows, it’s very harmful for this country, not just for our community. So I say this: if one Republican thinks they can do a better job solving the immigration problem than any Democrat, including the President, please step forward. Because so far, the GOP presidential candidates have disregarded what we have contributed to this country. For me, there’s no question of which party can best represent immigrants. But let the Republicans come forward with a proposal.
DIAZ-BALART: I tried to find out at the Ronald Reagan Library debate. Not one of the candidates answered my question – what would they do after sealing the border? They don’t have a plan B. Let’s see if they can answer this during a future debate.
BECERRA: We need a bipartisan answer. This has to be a solution by Democrats and Republicans.
