The only women’s MMA match scheduled for the prime viewing slot will be in the hands of Jessica Andrade to make of it what she can. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt will be matched against Joanne Calderwood at UFC 203. The victor will most likely earn a shot at the champion of the Strawweights, Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
Andrade was a just above-average fighter in the bantamweight division. It was her decision to move down a weight class followed by her sensational knockout win over Jessica Penne at UFC 199 in her debut in the new division that justified the move.
Ths Saturday, September 10th, in Cleveland, Ohio, she will be the opening bout and she knows what she wants out of this fight.
“If I score a nice knockout, which is what I predict,”
Andrade pointed out,
“I will challenge the champion for sure.”
Calderwood, her Scottish obstacle, looking for her third straight UFC win, has already brandished Jessica as a bully.
“She’s not going to have her way with me,”
Calderwood explained,
“I’m going in there and make sure that doesn’t happen.”
It should be an explosive start to the prime section of the card as the Brazilian “piledriver” clashes against the the UK’s best woman MMA fighter.
