Amsterdam meets New York in this one night only event of the European Music Awards presented by MTV. An MC was Redfoo and Backstage Host was Ariana Grande. Several artists performed, awards were given out and of course, there were memorable performances.
Overall, the awards show had showcased leading artists today and paid homage to music that is original, creative and what people want to hear. Here is a recap of the highlights from the pre-show in New York and the actual show in Amsterdam.
Music video, Future featuring Miley Cyrus and Mr. Hudson “Real and True” was premiered at the beginning of the show
Fall Out Boy had opened up the show
An appearance by The Wanted—A group of fans were asked questions by the band like who was the cutest band member, yet they did not know it was them actually talking. The fans also sang and danced a little before the band came out and greeted them.
Jason Derulo performed “Marry Me”
Artist on the Rise and Best Push winner: Austin Mahone
Miley Cyrus had opened up the show and won for Best Video Wrecking Ball”
Robin Thicke performed shortly after with “Blurred Lines”
Best Song winner was Bruno Mars “Locked Out of Heaven” and he also performed “Gorilla”, just like he did back in the VMAs
Katy Perry had not only performed “Unconditionally”, but also won the Best Female award
Best Male winner: Justin Bieber
Best Hip Hop and Global Icon winner: Eminem
Best Pop winner: One Direction
Best Live winner: Beyonce
Performances were also made by Snoop Dogg, The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Icona Pop, AfroJack and Kings of Leon
Presenters for the awards included Will Ferrell, Iggy Azalea, Ellie Goulding, Carice Van Houten, Colton Haynes, Jared Leto, Bridgit Mendler, Dizzee Rascal, RJ Mitte and Rita Ora
