CONSUMIAMI, the first international consumer fair to be held in Miami, will count Ralph Nader among its participants, one of the most prestigious and knowledgeable international personalities in the consumption field, who will deliver the opening conference. Nader’s presence certainly reinforces the recognition of an event as importance and innovative as CONSUMIAMI, aimed at consumers, but which also offers companies a window of opportunity to do business, consolidate their position in the market, grow and create value.

Ralph Nader, lawyer and five-times candidate to the presidency of the United States, founder of the consumer protection movement as it is understood today.
Nader’s career as a consumer advocate began in 1965, when he wrote “Unsafe at any speed”, a study which claimed that many American automobiles were defective. Ralph Nader is considered a “consumer advocate” and the founder of consumer protection as it is understood today. His message of social commitment (civic activism in the public interest), as well as his severe criticism of “prey” corporations, is a call to resistance against the culture of targeted consumerism.
The “consumer” Nader appeals to is not a compulsive buyer, but an active participant in democratic institutions. In short, a consumer, like CONSUMIAMI points out, that is the centre of economic activity and development.
The fair will also be attended by figures as prominent as the Vice president of Colombia, Angelino Garzón, as well as business representatives, international consumer organizations, universities and public institutions.
Organized by the Mercado de Dinero USA and Ausbanc with the support of the Miami City Hall and Miami-Dade College, CONSUMIAMI be held on March 23th and 24th, but from the 19th various activities will be organized, such as lectures about useful advice for consumption at schools and elderly homes.

Wolfson Campus of Miami-Dade College will hold Consumiami, First International Consumer Fair of Miami.
The fair proposes a suitable setting for companies to take the challenge posed to them by consumers of the 21st century: listen to them, and understand that the consumer has become a key part of economic development.
The ambitious project will thus become a meeting point for the consumer and the intelligent business. A platform, ultimately, to give voice to the consumer of the 21st century, the strength of an idea whose time has come and the most powerful in the world economy, but it will also be key to companies wishing to improve their relationship with the client, with the aim of achieving sustainable growth over time.
The event will include conferences and round tables on consumption and consumer rights, as well as various leisure activities. It is part of Consumeralia, consumer fair held in Spain and various Latin American countries for years, also coinciding with World Consumer Day on 15 March.
CONSUMIAMI will feature three sections: Scientific Forum, with debates and conferences, which will involve business representatives of different sectors of economic activity, and representatives of public bodies and institutions; Forum of the Senses, which will gather cooks to make cooking demonstrations, wine and oil tastings, not to mention cultural activities: Cinema and Theatre. Finally, there will be a 2,000 m2 area dedicated to stands, so that businesses can display their products and services, close deals and cultivate customers.
