Selena Gomez’s mother has reportedly suffered a miscarriage. The star has canceled two performances in order to be with her family during this difficult time.
Gomez received the unfortunate news on Friday while in the audience at Power 106’s Cali Christmas 2011 concert in Los Angeles. She promptly left the locale and went home.
News of the miscarriage comes merely a month after the actress tweeted of her stepfather, Brian Teefey, and mother’s pregnancy. The expected child would have been the couple’s first together and Gomez’s first sibling.
The star was to perform on December 24 at the B96 Jingle Bash 2011 at the Allstate Arena near Chicago, but canceled in light of the news. She also pulled out of the 106.1 KISS FM’s Jingle Bell Bash at the WaMu Theater in Seattle scheduled for December 25. The entire concert has been postponed until further notice after OneRepublic pulled out of the concert due to frontman Ryan Tedder’s doctor ordered vocal rest. The actress is still scheduled to appear in MTV’s live New Year’s Eve special.
When asked about the cancelations, Gomez’s representative claimed the star had a “family emergency”.
Fans have been supportive in light of the news. Thoughts and prayers go out to Gomez and her family.
